Wise Owl Paint™ Application Wisdom for PRO Results
· Prime: Use with Wise Owl's Stain Eliminating Primer for superior adhesion.
· Avoid Shellac-Based Primers: This will cause the paint to crackle.
· Don’t Overwork: Lay down enough paint so that it can self-level, but avoid drips.
· No Wax Over Enamel: This paint doesn’t require a wax topcoat.
· Recoat Time: Recommended recoat time is 2 hours.
· Application Methods: Apply with a brush or roller. For spraying, it can be watered down up to 10%.

Optional Clear Coat
Wise Owl One Hour Enamel is a super durable paint that really doesn’t need a topcoat. But if you want to change the sheen of your finish you can pick the perfect one to match your style.
The clear coat is great for adding extra durability, and it can even be used over bare wood.
Tin Size and Coverage
The tins come in 32oz (943ml), just shy of a litre.
I usually get 3-4 pieces out of one tin, depending on the size and colour of the pieces I’m working on.
Pro Tips from Jen
I love this paint, but it does require some prep to get the best results! Here’s what I recommend:
- Prep: Make sure your surface is squeaky clean and give it a good sand. Priming will help with durability, especially on high-use pieces.
- Application: The trick is to get enough paint on your brush to let it self-level, but not so much that it drips.
- Coats: It’s a bit thinner than most furniture paints, so you might need a couple of coats to get used to its consistency.
- Spraying or Rolling: You can roll or spray it too!
- No Water Needed: It’s already got a nice, thin consistency, and it dries fairly quickly. Apply it like a top coat - lay it on, smooth it out, and leave it alone!
